BDC and SIM sign MoU for Talent Cultivation and Workforce Readiness for the Data Center Industry

Bridge Data Centers (BDC), a hyperscale data center platform with a growing footprint across APAC, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) to strengthen talent pipelines for the region’s data center industry.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Eric Fan, BDC President, and Dr. Timothy Chan, Acting Provost, SIM. The purpose of this collaboration is to enhance workforce readiness through practical exposure and real-world applications for tertiary institutes.

Singapore is the nerve center of Southeast Asia’s thriving cloud and data center industry, and has seen a resurgence in the development of new digital infrastructure after the lifting of the moratorium in 2022, and subsequent government initiatives to ensure the availability of power for the sector.

According to DC Byte’s Singapore Data Centre Market Snapshot report, the total market capacity was 1,465MW in 2024, out of which 67.55 percent or about 990MW was live, while another 406MW was committed. And this growing industry needs a skilled workforce.

While there are technological programs offered by many universities, there has been a growing concern surrounding how these programs fall short of training people adequately to work in the digital infrastructure industry. The collaboration between BDC and SIM aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands.

The program will include industry talks, workshops that provides real-world insights, networking sessions, and structured internship program for tertiary students to get hand-on experience in the industry.
