MIIT: Shanghai and Hainan Will Open Pilot Data Center and Cloud Service Businesses


On 11th November 2020, the China Development High-Level Forum 2020 with the theme "Economic Recovery and International Cooperation in the Post-epidemic Era" was held in Beijing. LIU Liehong, deputy minister of the MIIT, said that MIIT will open value-added telecommunications services in an orderly manner, including data centers and cloud services. Pilot projects will be set in Shanghai, Hainan and other free trade zones firstlly.

He said that they will deepen international cooperation in technological innovation and will continue to unswervingly support economic globalization and promote open development for mutual benefit and win-win results. MIIT, through the establishment of a new open economic system, promotes the system integration of element advantages and institutional advantages, and strives to promote system innovation through openness. They will also open value-added telecommunications services in an orderly manner, including data centers and cloud services. Pilot projects will be conducted firstly in free trade zones such as Shanghai and Hainan.
