MIIT: 3 Major Operators Sending Users Detailed Phone Bill Each Month

Starting from December 1,2018,the three Chinese major telecom operators will collectively enforce a new regulation promulgated by MIIT to send monthly bills to users in the form of SMS every month,so as to make users understand their consumption completely and eliminate any possible part of fraudulent withholding fees.

In accordance with the MIIT provisions, since December 1,2018,the three major telecommunication operators China Unicom,China Telecom and China Mobile will formally start the implementation, providing users with monthly bills in the way of SMS.Before that, the operators just sent your monthly fee information to your phone mailbox(of course you can also check you bills via mobile or offline service hall),but more than 95%of people are less likely to check their specific cost, because it’s more troublesome, far convenient than SMS.

Why MIIT request this compulsory way?

MIIT imposes this new regulation to crack down on unspecified withholding charges on mobile phones.By actively providing monthly bills via SMS,users can understand their consumption clearly and eliminate hidden or unclear withholding information.

Positive user feedback

In fact, that service the monthly bill sent in SMS has been tried out by operators before.According to the feedback from the user experience,it is very positive. As for the SMS sent by the operator, besides the total amount spent last month, the specific deduction items and other information also can be inquired.

Just like what some users said,in the past, they seldom check the monthly phone bill, now they can have a good understanding of all the consumption. If encountering with hidden or fraudulent withholding, they can timely detect and find out, thus from the user's point of view, the monthly bill is a good reminder.
