Liaocheng,Shandong Province, China Launched its First "Multi-Station Integration" Edge Data Center Station and Put It Into Operation

The current site already has the foundation for "multi-station integration" such as substations, data center stations, charging stations, cold and heat source stations, and 5G base stations, and includes basic resources such as power material warehouses and office buildings. Photovoltaic stations, energy storage stations, and Beidou base stations are under construction and deployment.

On 4 November 2020, State Grid Liaocheng Power Supply Company’s 110kV Southern Suburb Substation "Multi-station Integration" edge data center station was completed and put into operation. This station is Liaocheng's first and currently the largest edge computing center in Shandong Province with 2 sets of 1 to 3 cabinets, and can hold more than 50 servers.

The 110kV Southern Suburb Substation of State Grid Liaocheng Power Supply Company is located in Phoenix Industrial Park, High-tech Zone, Liaocheng City. The current site has the foundation of "multi-station integration" such as substation, data center station, charging station, cold and heat source station, and 5G base station, and includes electricity Basic resources such as material warehouses and office buildings. Photovoltaic stations, energy storage stations, and Beidou base stations are under construction and deployment.

To implement the digital "new infrastructure" work deployment of State Grid Corporation and State Grid Shandong Electric Power Company and actively explore the construction of "multi-station integration", the project is an important measure for State Grid Liaocheng Power Supply Company. By revitalizing the company’s existing substations, business halls and other idle resources, in-depth exploration of the company’s basic resource potential, introducing external diversified investments, using substations as the hub, building an energy allocation platform, a comprehensive service platform, and a new business and new business format platform, and driving smart grids Develop together with the upstream and downstream of the power Internet of Things industry chain, create a co-construction and win-win energy power ecosystem and an energy Internet ecosystem, and share development results with the whole society.

After the project is completed, it can provide various businesses and services including integrated energy services and contract energy management, power auxiliary service, charging services, power spot transactions, high-quality power quality services, and high-reliability power supply services for nearby areas to enhance the power grid comprehensive efficiency benefit.

It is reported that multi-site integration is to use the surplus space of power grid infrastructure such as substations and power business offices to build 5G base stations, data center stations, Beidou base stations and other facilities to promote the development of edge computing and 5G by releasing high-quality resources to the society. The project will dig deep into the value of the basic resources contained in the traditional power grid, and realize sharing with operators, Internet companies, etc., which can effectively solve the hard problems of telecom operators and Internet companies in selecting locations in densely populated areas, and greatly shorten the construction cycles of data center. , 5G and etc, and realize the effective use of the value of the basic resources of substations, greatly saving social resources, and avoiding repeated construction and investment. Especially in cities, substations are widely distributed in communities, schools, hospitals, factories and other areas, close to the user side. If resources such as data centers are placed in substations, services can be provided nearby. This is the inherent advantage of "multi-station integration".

According to the plan, this year Liaocheng City will invest nearly CNY 8.3 million to launch 6 "multi-station integration" data center stations to meet the comprehensive requirements of urban construction for energy and environment, and contributes to serve the construction of "Digital Liaocheng".
