AtlasEdge Breaks Ground on Second Data Center in Leverkusen, Germany
April 16, 2026
AtlasEdge, a pan-European data center operator, has commenced construction on a new facility in Leverkusen, Germany, marking a significant expansion in one of Europe's most critical digital infrastructure markets. This move underscores the sustained demand for colocation and edge computing capacity in Germany's key economic hubs.
The company announced this week that work has begun on LEV002, its second data center in Leverkusen. The new build will add 4.4 megawatts of IT capacity across approximately 3,400 square meters (36,595 square feet) of space. The first phase of the project is scheduled to go live in the second quarter of 2027. Notably, AtlasEdge indicated that the facility is already nearly fully pre-leased, signaling strong local demand.
Georg Raiser, Managing Director DACH at AtlasEdge Data Centres, commented on the strategic rationale behind the investment. "With the development of this new data center, we are advancing our long-term growth strategy in Germany," he said. "AtlasEdge is investing in high-growth European markets, delivering modern, high-performance infrastructure where customers need it most. Expanding our footprint in Leverkusen strengthens our ability to support customers across one of Germany’s leading economic regions."
The Leverkusen project increases AtlasEdge's German portfolio to nine facilities. The company operates data centers in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg (two), Stuttgart (three), and now two in Leverkusen. Its first facility in the city, LEV001, was acquired as part of the DC1 portfolio takeover in 2022. That site, which opened in 2017, offers up to 10MW of capacity across 6,000 square meters.
Founded in 2021 as a joint venture between Liberty Global and DigitalBridge, AtlasEdge has rapidly grown through acquisitions and new builds. The venture combined DigitalBridge's edge assets with Liberty Global's real estate, with several of Liberty's telecom units serving as anchor tenants. The expansion in Leverkusen reflects the company's focus on strengthening its network in strategic regional locations to serve enterprise and hyperscale customers requiring low-latency connectivity and scalable capacity.
