Viettel Deploys Nvidia's Flagship DGX B200 AI System in Hanoi to Bolster National AI Capabilities
February 10, 2026
In a significant move to advance Vietnam's domestic artificial intelligence ecosystem, state-backed telecommunications and technology conglomerate Viettel has deployed a cutting-edge Nvidia DGX B200 system at its Hoa Lac High Tech Park facility in Hanoi. The deployment underscores the intensifying global race for sovereign AI capabilities and positions Viettel as a key player in the Southeast Asian region's technological development.
The system, commissioned in line with a Vietnamese government resolution aimed at accelerating science, technology, and national digital transformation, will be operated by Viettel's dedicated AI business unit. The DGX B200 SuperPod, first launched by Nvidia in March 2024, represents the sixth generation of the chipmaker's air-cooled, rack-mounted AI infrastructure. A single SuperPod clusters eight or more DGX B200 units, each integrating eight Nvidia B200 Tensor Core GPUs and two fifth-generation Intel Xeon CPUs, providing immense computational power for training complex AI models. Viettel AI has already begun training Vietnamese large language models (LLMs) to support national digital programs. The new high-performance computing resource will further enable the development of multimodal AI models that integrate text, images, audio, and video, as well as specialized generative AI models.
“The commissioning of the B200 system represents not only an investment in IT infrastructure, but also a strategic step for Viettel to develop independent and reliable AI capabilities for Vietnam,” said Nguyen Manh Quy, director of Viettel AI. He added that the platform will allow Viettel to develop AI technologies to serve Vietnamese citizens and businesses while supporting the government's secure and sustainable digital transformation agenda.
The Hoa Lac data center, where the system is housed, is a substantial facility reflecting Viettel's scale. Spanning 21,000 square meters (226,000 square feet) with over 2,400 racks, the site has a total power capacity of 30 megawatts. Founded as a construction firm and now operated by the Ministry of Defence, Viettel has evolved into a major telco, tech manufacturer, and data center operator. This investment in frontier AI hardware signals Vietnam's commitment to building homegrown technological sovereignty and could stimulate further high-tech investments and research collaborations within the country's burgeoning digital economy.
