Stack Infrastructure Breaks Ground on Second 18MW Data Center at Tokyo Campus
February 6, 2026
Stack Infrastructure, a major wholesale data center developer, has commenced construction on its second facility at its Inzai campus in the greater Tokyo area, significantly expanding its capacity in one of the world's most critical digital infrastructure markets. The move underscores the intense demand for high-quality data center space in Japan, driven by cloud adoption, digital transformation, and the region's strategic importance as a connectivity hub for the Asia-Pacific.
The new standalone building, designated TKY01B, will add 18 megawatts of critical IT capacity to the campus, matching the capacity of the first facility, TOK01, which launched in October 2024. The company announced the groundbreaking this week, with delivery of the project expected in the fourth quarter of 2027. When fully built out, the 2.3-hectare campus will host two purpose-built 18MW buildings, totaling 36MW of capacity.
Stack's expansion in Tokyo is part of a broader strategic push into the APAC region, which it first announced in October 2021. Beyond Tokyo, the company is developing a 72MW campus in Osaka through a partnership with ESR and has a growing portfolio in Australia and Seoul. Stack was formed in early 2019 by investment firm IPI Partners, which was later acquired by Blue Owl Capital in 2024, consolidating assets to create a significant wholesale colocation provider.
The development of TKY01B reinforces Tokyo's status as a premier data center destination, catering to hyperscalers and enterprises seeking robust, scalable infrastructure. This expansion not only strengthens Stack's competitive position in Japan but also contributes to meeting the soaring regional demand for data processing and storage, a trend accelerated by artificial intelligence and edge computing deployments across Asia.
