Singtel's Nxera Launches 58MW AI-Ready Data Center in Singapore

February 9, 2026

In a significant move to bolster Singapore's position as a global AI hub, Singtel's regional data center arm, Nxera, has officially opened its largest facility in the city-state. The launch of DC Tuas comes at a critical time as demand for high-density, compute-intensive infrastructure surges, particularly in a market where data center capacity has been constrained by a government moratorium on new developments since 2019. The new eight-storey facility, spanning 120,000 square feet (11,148 square meters), brings 58 megawatts (MW) of capacity online. Nxera claims DC Tuas is now Singapore's highest-capacity data center. The company stated that more than 90 percent of the multi-tenant facility's capacity was pre-leased prior to launch, underscoring strong market demand. The site is designed for AI workloads, featuring support for liquid cooling and reportedly hosting the country's largest direct-to-chip liquid cooling deployment. The addition of DC Tuas increases Nxera's total operational capacity in Singapore to 120MW. Construction on the project began in August 2023, with the facility coming online slightly behind its original 2025 target. Bill Chang, CEO of Nxera and Singtel’s Digital InfraCo unit, emphasized the strategic importance of the launch: "The opening of our new AI-ready data center, DC Tuas, is an important milestone for Nxera as we expand our role in enabling AI innovations in Singapore. The ability to deploy higher-density, compute-intensive AI workloads sustainably, is increasingly critical for a strategic market where data center capacity is constrained." He added, "As Singapore’s highest power density, most energy efficient, and largest liquid-cooled multi-tenanted data center, DC Tuas reinforces the country’s position as a global AI hub and supports accelerating AI adoption." The facility is strategically located adjacent to Singtel’s Tuas cable landing station, which serves as a landing point for multiple major subsea cables, enhancing its connectivity proposition. The launch is a key part of Nxera's broader regional expansion strategy. The company, in which investment firm KKR acquired a 20 percent stake for $800 million in 2023, is actively developing projects across Southeast Asia. With additional facilities in Batam, Indonesia and Johor, Malaysia scheduled to become operational in the second half of 2026, Nxera expects its total operational and pipeline capacity to more than double from 200MW. This expansion aligns with the gradual relaxation of Singapore's data center moratorium, signaling renewed growth for the sector in the strategically important APAC region.
