Prosus and AWS Forge Major Three-Year AI and Cloud Partnership
February 5, 2026
In a significant move highlighting the deepening convergence of investment capital and artificial intelligence infrastructure, Dutch global investment group Prosus has entered into a strategic, three-year agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The partnership underscores a growing trend where large-scale investors are not just funding AI-driven companies but are actively structuring enterprise-wide technology deals to accelerate innovation and achieve operational efficiencies across their vast portfolios. The agreement, valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars according to a Bloomberg report, grants key Prosus portfolio companies—including iFood, OLX, PayU, Despegar, eMag, and Just Eat Takeaway.com across Latin America, Europe, and India—access to AWS's full suite of cloud and AI capabilities. Beyond mere commercial access, the deal is structured as a co-innovation pact. AWS is committing dedicated engineering resources to collaborate with Prosus's team of approximately 1,000 AI specialists on developing new solutions. This builds upon a decade of prior collaboration, which has already yielded innovations like the Large Commerce Model for iFood.
Igor Cardoso, Head of the Prosus Ecosystem, emphasized the strategic depth of the partnership, stating, "AWS is committing engineering resources to co-develop products with us and provide portfolio-wide access and support to rapidly deploy use cases. Leveraging 10 years of shared innovation, this empowers us to accelerate growth across our global portfolio, unlocking an AI-first world for our 2 billion customers." The company is further investing about $100 million annually in AI talent and infrastructure to fuel this initiative. For the industry, this deal represents a blueprint for how conglomerates and investment holdings can consolidate their cloud and AI spending with a single hyperscaler to drive cost savings and technological cohesion. The stated goals include implementing generative AI, ensuring system reliability, and deploying unified security frameworks across all portfolio companies.
Greg Pearson, Vice President of AWS Global Sales, noted, "By combining AWS' AI and machine learning capabilities with Prosus's operational expertise across its portfolio, we're changing how customers experience and discover products." The partnership signals that the race for AI dominance is increasingly being fought through strategic, ecosystem-level alliances that extend far beyond traditional vendor-customer relationships.
