Cable One Enters Mobile Market with Launch of Sparklight Mobile MVNO

Cable One Launches Sparklight Mobile, Joining Broadband-to-Mobile Trend

December 3, 2025

In a strategic move to diversify its service portfolio and capture a larger share of the connectivity market, US broadband provider Cable One has officially launched its mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) service, Sparklight Mobile. This launch marks the company's first foray into the wireless sector, positioning it to compete in the increasingly converged market of home and mobile services.

The new service, which became available this week, offers customers three tiered plans. These include a 1 GB data package priced at $15 per month, a 5 GB option for $25 monthly, and an unlimited data plan for $30 per month. As an MVNO, Sparklight Mobile does not own its own cellular infrastructure but will utilize the networks of existing carriers. While the company has not publicly named its network partners, industry reports indicate it partnered with mobile virtual network enabler (MVNE) Reach for a pilot program and utilized AT&T's network for market trials earlier this year.

The launch leverages the established Sparklight brand, which was adopted for Cable One's residential services division as part of a broader shift to emphasize internet over traditional cable TV. Tony Mokry, Senior Vice President of Residential Services at Sparklight, emphasized the strategic rationale, stating, “In today’s world, staying connected at home and on the go is essential. Sparklight Mobile gives customers a dependable mobile option that delivers the flexibility, reliability, and value they expect from a provider they already know and trust.”

Cable One, which serves over one million broadband customers across 24 states, is following a well-trodden path blazed by other major cable operators like Comcast, Charter Communications, and Cox Communications. This industry-wide push into mobile services allows broadband providers to create bundled offerings, increase customer retention, and open new revenue streams in a saturated home internet market. The entry of another significant player like Cable One further intensifies competition in the US mobile sector, potentially driving down prices and increasing choice for consumers, particularly in the regional markets where the company has a strong foothold.
