Northstar Enterprise + Defense Forges AI-Ready Edge Data Centers with Owens Corning Partnership

Northstar Enterprise + Defense (NED), a subsidiary of Northstar Technologies Group, Inc. (NTGI), today announced strategic technology programs, including a key collaboration with Owens Corning, to advance its AI-optimized modular data center platform. These initiatives are designed to solidify the company's leadership in the rapidly expanding edge AI and modular infrastructure market, projected to reach $269.8 billion by 2032.


The collaboration with Owens Corning focuses on integrating advanced composite and insulation technologies directly into NED's Modular Data Center (MDC) product line. This partnership aims to enhance durability, thermal performance, and sustainability, while also securing a resilient, long-term material supply chain. A key component includes the use of fiberglass recycling to promote circularity in the manufacturing process.

"The use of advanced composites has delivered lightweight, durable, and resilient solutions for these demanding applications."


The company's recent deployments underscore its capacity to meet urgent, mission-critical demands. NED successfully delivered a modular disaster recovery network node for a major U.S. telecom provider to ensure connectivity during extreme weather and deployed a full-scale modular data center for a Fortune 50 enterprise to facilitate a transition to a hybrid multi-cloud architecture. These projects demonstrate NED's ability to consolidate deployment timelines from years to months at a fraction of the total cost of ownership of traditional data center builds.


NED's AI-ready MDCs are engineered specifically for inference, agentic AI, and real-time decision-making, supporting compute densities of up to 150kW per rack.

Constructed with proprietary Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites, the MDCs are up to 30% lighter than aluminum and can be deployed on rooftops or unprepared terrain without heavy foundations. Key performance features include F5 tornado and Category 5 hurricane ratings, industry-leading thermal efficiency, corrosion-proof design, and IoT-enabled predictive maintenance. The units are fully recyclable and designed for net-zero carbon manufacturing.


For defense applications, NED has developed next-generation mobile SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) modules. These units are engineered to ICD-705, TEMPEST, and HEMP standards, providing protection against electronic, EMP, and cyber threats. Built with lightweight composite armor, they are transportable by air and helicopter, delivering secure compute capacity to forward-deployed locations.
