Singtel first in Singapore to launch next-generation fibre connectivity to every room

Singapore, 11 April 2024 – Singtel today announced it has partnered Huawei to launch FibreEverywhere, a home broadband solution featuring Huawei’s transparent fibre optic cables that provide unprecedented high speed and reliable internet connection to devices such as laptops and smartphones in every room – a first-in-Singapore. Paired with Huawei’s OptiXstar range of routers, the new technology, also known as Fibre To The Room, is a step up from traditional fibre optic connectivity found in most homes today, and solves connectivity issues such as Wi-Fi dead zones or slow Wi-Fi speeds. It can also be easily installed without homeowners needing to make any structural adjustments to their homes.

This new connectivity solution provides more than 1Gbps Wi-Fi speeds to every room – up to 2-3 times faster than basic Wi-Fi 6 routers. The installation of the new fibre optic cables and routers is available at a promotional price from $109 per month for connectivity in two rooms, and $20 per month for every additional room.

Ms Jennifer Ng, Vice President, Customer Value, Fixed Broadband and Content Marketing, Singtel Singapore, said, “With FibreEverywhere, users can now enjoy ultrafast, stable connectivity that is more reliable than anything in the market today. This breakthrough in fibre technology removes obstacles to connectivity like awkward floor layouts, concrete walls and even corners around a home - enabling users to enjoy optimal digital experiences at home. As more consumers engage in high bandwidth activities like streaming 8K high-definition movies, virtual reality immersive experiences or setting up of smart homes with many interconnected digital devices, we expect to see growing adoption of such advanced connectivity solutions.”

Faster, stable connectivity with fuss-free installation

Getting a home wired up with FibreEverywhere is quick and simple. Singtel field installers will first conduct a personalised site survey, plan the fibre installation route and advise on the optimal placement of equipment around the home. The installer 11 will then run the transparent optic cables along the walls, door frames, and skirting, blending them seamlessly into the aesthetic of the house, doing away with the need to conceal wires with trunking.
