Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud Offer Dedicated Servers for Palworld Players

(Yicai) Jan. 29 -- The cloud computing arms of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding and Internet titan Tencent Holdings are rolling out dedicated servers to allow players of the hit monster-taming game Palword to avoid many of the issues they encounter on public servers such as crashing, high pings and lags.

The number of online players playing Palworld, which was released by Japanese indie studio PocketPair on Jan. 19, has already topped two million, making it the game with the second highest number of online players after battle royale PUBG: Battlegrounds.

But in order to ensure a seamless experience, many gamers are choosing to use their own exclusive, private servers.

Tencent Cloud started to offer a link to a dedicated Palworld server on its website on Jan. 25 which can be installed with a single click. The cost is just CNY93 (USD13) a month, much less than the Shenzhen-based company’s usual fee of CNY300 (USD42) per month.

And Alibaba Cloud is also selling servers suitable for up between four and eight players, and others for more than 10 gamers. It only takes two to three minutes to configure the server and there is no need to manually set it up.

So far, tens of thousands of Palworld players have bought servers from the Hangzhou-based company. It costs new users at least CNY32 (USD4.50) every month.

Palworld is taking the gaming world by storm. Palworld tweeted on Jan. 25 that the game sold over 8 million copies in just five and a half days. According to estimates by Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley, Palworld grossed USD189 million in just five days.
