GridAI and Amp Z Forge Strategic Alliance to Orchestrate Power for AI Data Center Expansion
March 6, 2026
The relentless growth of artificial intelligence is placing unprecedented demands on data center power infrastructure, making energy strategy a critical bottleneck for expansion. In a significant move to address this challenge, energy orchestration firm GridAI Technologies has formally announced a strategic partnership with AI data center developer Amp Z.
The collaboration, initiated under a non-binding Letter of Intent last November, will see GridAI deploy its comprehensive energy orchestration and optimization platform across Amp Z’s entire planned portfolio of AI data center campuses in North America. This portfolio is projected to represent a massive investment, with developments expected to total more than 5 gigawatts (GW) of capacity over the next five to ten years.
Under the proposed arrangement, GridAI’s platform will coordinate a diverse array of onsite and grid-connected energy assets at these campuses. This includes integrating battery energy storage systems, distributed and on-site power generation, renewable energy sources, and grid interconnection infrastructure into a single operating system. The goal is to enable these large-scale facilities to secure power more rapidly, enhance operational reliability, and simultaneously manage costs and carbon emissions.
Amp Z is focused on developing powered campuses designed for hyperscale tenants running intensive AI workloads. For GridAI, its role across these sites is expected to generate recurring operating revenue tied to the performance and dispatch of the managed energy resources. Amp Z’s development pipeline is already substantial, including a recently announced 2.1GW project in East Texas. The company is currently advancing three sites with a combined power ramp of 3.8GW and conducting diligence on four additional sites representing another 4.7GW.
“Today’s announcement unveils the strategic relationship we first introduced last November,” said Marshall Chapin, CEO of GridAI. “Amp Z represents the type of AI infrastructure developer our orchestration platform was designed to support – one that views power strategy as central to modern data center development.” He added, “As AI demand accelerates, policymakers and grid operators increasingly expect hyperscale expansion to be paired with privately funded energy solutions that protect the average consumer. GridAI provides the orchestration layer that allows these campuses to scale quickly while operating within the modern electric grid.”
This partnership underscores a pivotal shift in the data center industry, where large-scale developers are moving beyond simple power procurement to actively managing complex, hybrid energy ecosystems. The alliance positions both companies at the forefront of a trend where sophisticated energy management is becoming a core competitive advantage, essential for deploying the multi-gigawatt capacities required by the AI era.
