OVHcloud Unveils Next-Generation Server Racks and Advanced Cooling Systems

European cloud provider OVHcloud has launched a comprehensive new hardware generation for its data centers, introducing innovative server racks and cooling systems designed to enhance performance and sustainability. The announcement, made this week, represents a significant step in the company's ongoing infrastructure evolution.


Central to this launch is the new High Density Rack (HD Rack), a proprietary design capable of supporting power densities of up to 120kW. This substantial capacity is engineered to meet the escalating computational demands of modern workloads, particularly those driven by artificial intelligence and high-performance computing applications. The HD Rack is a cornerstone of OVHcloud's strategy to future-proof its infrastructure against rapidly advancing technological requirements.


Complementing the new rack architecture is a suite of advanced cooling solutions. The company has developed a high-flow watercooling system specifically designed to integrate with the HD Rack, efficiently managing the extreme thermal output of high-density servers. This system is a critical component in maintaining hardware reliability and optimal performance under intense loads.


Further expanding its thermal management portfolio, OVHcloud is also launching a new adiabatic cooling system. This technology leverages the natural process of water evaporation to cool incoming air before it enters the data center's more traditional cooling circuits. By utilizing this method, the system significantly reduces overall energy consumption, contributing to lower Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and aligning with the company's environmental objectives.


This dual-pronged approach to hardware and cooling innovation underscores OVHcloud's commitment to building a more efficient and scalable cloud ecosystem. By controlling the entire stack from the server design to the rack and cooling infrastructure, the company aims to optimize total cost of ownership while reinforcing its position in the competitive cloud market. These new systems are expected to be deployed across OVHcloud's global network of data centers, marking a new phase in its infrastructure capabilities.
