Both companies backed by DigitalBridge
Vantage Data Centers is said to be considering purchasing Yondr Group's Malaysian data center portfolio.
As reported by Bloomberg and citing people familiar with the matter, the two DigitalBridge-backed companies are in ongoing discussions.
The move would help DigitalBridge to simplify its portfolio and aid growth in the APAC region, said the sources.
The deal could value Yondr's data center campus in Johor at $1.6 billion. Co-investors such as the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority are also likely to join.
Representatives from the companies declined to comment to Bloomberg.
Yondr Group is co-owned by DigitalBridge - acquired in 2024 - and La Caisse, though it operates as an independent company in DigitalBridge's portfolio. The company's Malaysia campus is located in Johor's Sedenak Tech Park, spanning 72.5MW and will offer 300MW at full buildout.
In June 2025, Yondr handed over the keys to the first data center at the campus - a 25MW facility - that was delivered six months ahead of schedule. First announced in March 2022 and energized in March 2024, the campus is backed by more than $900 million in financing.
Thus far, Yondr Group has more than 83MW of capacity operational, with 878MW in contracted capacity. The company has projects in Virginia, Canada, the UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, and India.
DigitalBridge, while still a backer of Vantage data centers, divested its controlling stake in the company at the start of 2024. The operator is also backed by Silver Lake. Last month, reports emerged that DigitalBridge was looking to raise up to $1bn through a stake sale in Vantage's APAC business.
Vantage has data centers operating globally. In the APAC region, it has data centers in Melbourne, Australia; Fo Tan, Kwai Chung, and On Lok, Hong Kong; Osaka, Japan; Cyberjaya, Malaysia; and Taipei, Taiwan. The Malaysia campus is its largest in the APAC region, offering 467MW of capacity.
