Signs 16-month contract with consultant for feasibility study
Canadian IT solutions provider Uniserve Communications Corporation is hoping to develop a data center at its existing Vancouver facility.
The company revealed last month that it had signed a 16-month contract with a data center consultant for advice as to whether the project will be possible.
The consultancy has not been named.
Uniserve aims to establish a 2MW data center at the Vancouver site to "further service its existing customer base and increase its ability to service a growing AI market."
Speaking on the contract, Uniserve's interim CEO, Kwin Grauer, said: "This agreement reflects our continued commitment to investing in our platform, supporting enterprise resilience, and delivering critical infrastructure solutions for Canadian businesses."
According to DataCenterMap, Uniserve's existing data center is at 333 Terminal Avenue in Vancouver. A product listing by Lee & Associates describes the facility as an eight-story building spanning 20,000 sq ft (1,858 sqm). In addition to housing the Uniserve data center, the facility has a fitness center, and space is leased out to other organizations, including Penthouse, an events and business space.
Uniserve offers IT services, including data center solutions, colocation, cloud, and business Internet. The company has offices in Vancouver, Calgary, and Waterloo in Canada.
The majority of Canada's data centers are located around Toronto and Montreal, though Vancouver also has a notable market. Operators in the Vancouver region include Hut 8, Cologix, and eStruxture, among others.
