Will be for a single user
T5 Data Centers is set to convert an industrial building into a data center in Nampa, Idaho.
As reported by the Boise Dev, T5 has received approval for a conditional use permit from the Nampa Planning and Zoning Commission for the data center project. Nampa is 20 miles west of Boise, Idaho's capital city.
The industrial building, located at 8300 Birch Lane, will be converted into a data center for a single user, according to a city staff report.
The site is currently zoned light industrial.
Spanning 80,000 sq ft (7,430 sqm), the single-story building is one of seven in the industrial site Park 84. The data center would be developed in five phases.
T5 told the commission that the data center would have "minimal" power and water needs compared to other data centers, using initially around 2.5MW of power, expanding to 8.25MW in two to five years. It will also use air-cooling solutions. Idaho Power has confirmed power is available at the site.
Once operational, the data center is expected to create 11 full-time jobs comprised of technicians and security personnel.
Last month, T5 revealed it was helping Bitfarms - a cryptomining company pivoting to AI and HPC data centers - to develop a campus in Pennsylvania. The partnership will focus on pre-construction, design, planning, and development approval processes, with T5 providing guidance and coordination throughout the planning phase.
Founded in 2008, T5 develops build-to-suit data centers across the US. It has a presence across Chicago, Illinois; Atlanta, Georgia; Los Angeles, California; Hillsboro, Oregon; Dallas, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina; and beyond. The company recently announced plans to develop multiple gigawatt-scale campuses, starting with a site outside Chicago, Illinois.
Idaho has a small data center market, with DataCenterMap only listing nine facilities in the state. Despite this, Meta and Diode Ventures are developing data centers in the region.
