HostDime seeks deadline extension for data center in Eatonville, Orlando

Third time an extension has been requested

Data center operator HostDime is requesting an extension on its development agreement for a data center in Eatonville, Florida.

As reported by the Orlando Business Journal, this is the third time HostDime has requested an extension from the town of Eatonville for the facility at 1 Innovate Place.

HostDime is asking to move the required opening date from September 30 to December 31, 2025.

The data center, set to span 100,000 sq ft (9,290 sqm), was originally approved in 2016 but suffered delays due to permits and the Covid-19 pandemic, with construction only beginning in 2021.

Previous reports suggested that the data center will occupy a three-floor wing of the building, with corporate offices and client spaces using the other seven floors. In total, the project has cost around $75 million to date, reports the Orlando Business Journal - up from previous estimates of $35 million.

The first extension request saw the opening date pushed to June 2024, the second to July 2025.

Through the development agreement with Eatonville, the town has given HostDime $200,000 to reimburse it for third-party costs and expenses related to water and sewer infrastructure.

Should the town agree to the new extension date, HostDime would be fined $500 per day if it didn't meet the December 2025 deadline.

Orlando Business Journal was told by HostDime's CEO, Manny Vivar, that the project is around 93 percent finished and should be ready to serve customers by November.

According to HostDime's website, the company builds Tier IV data centers, though Uptime Institute's website lists only the Colombia data center as Tier IV and the Brazil facility as Tier III. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Florida, the company has data centers in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and Orlando, Florida, in the US.

In July 2025, HostDime announced a multi-million-dollar investment for a third data center in Brazil.

The majority of Florida's data centers are located in the Miami area, though Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville also have data center markets.
