Located in the southern Indian city of Chennai
Indian data center developer Techno Digital has opened a 36MW data center.
The facility, dubbed TD-1, is located at Sipcot IT Park, a technology park south of Chennai in the suburb of Siruseri. Chennai is the capital city of Tamil Nadu, one of India's southern states.
According to the company, the facility offers around 2,400 racks and can support power densities from 10kW to 50kW per rack. The facility also has a 110kV substation.
Techno Digital president Amit Agrawal said: “We are confident that the strategically located facility on India’s southern coast in Chennai, further augmented by our network of interconnected Edge data centers, is well poised to shape the country’s digital infrastructure with sustainable, AI-driven, and cloud-optimized offerings.”
Sipcot IT Park is also home to Sify Technologies’ Chennai 02 campus, which will offer more than 130MW of capacity at full build-out.
Techno Digital was launched in May of this year as a wholly owned subsidiary of Indian power infrastructure firm Techno Electric.
Two more data centers – one in Kolkata offering 20MW of capacity at completion, and another in Noida – are in the pipeline.
Most of India’s data centers are located in major cities. Chennai, along with Mumbai and Hyderabad, is one such city. In February, CtrlS launched its second facility at its data center campus in the Ambattur industrial area, joining other operators including Digital Realty, AdaniConneX, STT, NTT, Nxtra by Airtel, Tata Communications, and Colt.
Chennai’s coastal location also makes it an ideal location for subsea cables, including BBG, i1i, CANI, India Asia-Xpress, SeaMeWe-4, and MIST, with SeaMeWe-6 and ICE IV expected to join in the coming years.
