Company valued at $1.5bn
Artificial intelligence infrastructure provider and video, image, and audio provider Fal has raised $125 million.
The San Francisco-based company has closed its Series C round, which saw the company valued at $1.5 billion.
The funding round was led by Meritech, and saw participation from Salesforce Ventures, Shopify Ventures, and Google AI Futures fund. Existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Kindred Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Notable Capital, First Round Capital, Unusual Ventures, and Village Global also participated in the round.
Fal provides access to GPUs as well as a platform offering image, video, and audio AI models to its users. According to the company’s website, it offers access to thousands of H100, H200, and B200 virtual machines via its “fal compute” offering.
DCD has reached out to clarify if the company owns its GPUs, or if it resells access from other providers. At the time of writing, no response has been provided.
Posting to LinkedIn, Fal wrote: “Fal’s Generative Media Cloud now powers tens of thousands of applications, supporting over two million developers and more than 300 enterprise customers. From initial prototypes to fully scaled production, we've become the essential infrastructure enabling some of the most innovative and creative work in the industry.
“Over the past year alone, we've experienced extraordinary growth—averaging 40 percent month-over-month, consistently exceeding our own ambitious projections. Each month, hundreds of thousands of new developers and thousands of fresh applications join our platform, unlocking entirely new use cases previously thought impossible. With this latest round of funding, we're significantly scaling our engineering, support, sales, and marketing teams to keep pace with the accelerating demand and enthusiasm from our community.”
"With generative AI, you can create infinite iterations of the same ad," Fal CEO Burkay Gur told Reuters. "You can create different versions for different demographics. You can A/B test it as much as you want. And there is incremental value on each asset that you create."
Fal was founded in 2021 by Burkay Gur and Gorkem Yurtseven. Gur, according to LinkedIn, has previously held roles at Coinbase and Oracle. Yurtseven, meanwhile, was previously a senior software development engineer at Amazon.
The company previously raised $49m in its Series B funding round in February of this year. To date, Fal has raised $197m.
