Also reveals mobile data processing offering
Rostelecom's subsidiary RTK-TsOD has launched a data center in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia.
The company has also launched a new mobile data processing offering for customers.
RTK-TsOD is Rostelecom's IT service provider subsidiary, offering infrastructure and cloud computing solutions to customers.
According to the company, the Nizhny Novgorod DC is its first data center owned and operated by RTK-TsOD, and spans 3,539 sqm (38,093 sq ft).
It features four machine rooms, 401 racks, and has an IT capacity of 5MW.
According to the company, construction began at the end of 2023 following the signing of an agreement between the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Yegor Polyakov, and the general director of RTK-TsOD, Sergey Bochkarev. The first and second stages of the data center were launched last month.
The data center is located at 35 Fedonseenko Street.
Bochkarev said of the launch: "The Nizhny Novgorod data center is the 25th RTK-DC facility. Its opening was a new step towards the digitalization of Russian regions and our contribution to the development of urban infrastructure, modern, technological, and efficient. The second stage of the Nizhny Novgorod data processing center was completed six months ahead of schedule - for a facility with a construction cycle of 1.5-2 years, this is a significant acceleration."
Mikhail Oseevsky, president of Rostelecom, added: "Rostelecom is systematically developing a network of data centers to meet the needs of its customers. Our cloud resources serve the most important state information systems, including the State Services ecosystem. We are pleased to open our own modern and powerful data processing center in such an economically powerful region as the Nizhny Novgorod Region."
Nizhny Novgorod is a large city on the Volga River in western Russia. DataCenterMap lists two data centers in the area operated by Komplex-Host and Ruweb-NN.
RTK-TsOD launches turnkey data center offering
In addition to the new data center, RTK-TSoD has added a "turnkey mobile data processing center" offering to its portfolio.
According to the company, the solution is ready-made and can be installed by customers directly on-premises, and easily scaled up.
Described as mobile data centers, the solution includes "fault-tolerant infrastructure, redundant power supply, cooling, and monitoring systems. The company installs and configures the data centers according to customer requirements, and provides full-time technical support.
Alexander Obukhov, director of products at RTK-TsOD, said: "According to analysts, the growth rate of rack space usage in Russia will increase until 2028: many sites, especially in large regions, are sold at the construction stage. Therefore, the shortage of rack space in commercial data centers, which we have been observing for several years, will only increase.
"At the same time, not all companies are ready to transfer their IT infrastructure to the cloud or build their own data center. Our mobile data centers allow you to quickly and safely create a turnkey infrastructure, help reduce costs, and speed up the launch of new projects."
The company suggests the solution is suited to the oil and gas sector, and other industries needing on-prem compute.
