DataBank launches 20MW data center in Orangeburg, New York

AI cloud firm CoreWeave named as a customer of new facility.

US operator DataBank has launched a data center in New York state.

The company this week announced the opening of its LGA3 data center in Orangeburg, Rockland County.

Located at 2000 Corporate Drive, some 30 miles north of Manhattan, the facility offers 20MW of critical IT load across 110,000 sq ft (10,219 sqm) of raised floor and five data halls. It has five on-site carriers present.

DataBank said LGA3 is fully operational and nearly fully leased, with CoreWeave named as one of the facility’s customers. The facility can offer air-cooled densities of 35kW and liquid-cooled densities of 100kW.

“Establishing a presence in the Hudson Valley goes beyond building a data center,” said Raul Martynek, DataBank CEO. “It’s about creating lasting partnerships, supporting the local community, and enabling the next generation of AI. LGA3 represents a key step forward, and the relationships we’ve built across every level of government will be essential as we plan for future growth, including the development of LGA4.”

DataBank first announced plans for a 30MW data center in Orangeburg in October 2021; the site is based at a former Verizon data center in the area sold by SKAE Group. The old data center has been demolished and replaced.

The company is developing a second building on the campus, known as LGA4, which will take the site to 40MW across 220,000 sq ft (20,439 sqm) of raised floor space. That facility is also due to come online this year.

Across New York, DataBank operates two other data centers, taking space at the 60 Hudson and 111 Eighth Avenue carrier hotels. It also operates two facilities in New Jersey, in Newark and Piscataway.
