1MW data center up for auction in Albion, New York state

Facility used to be a call center.

A former enterprise data center is up for sale outside Rochester in New York state.

The 130,000 sq ft (12,100 sqm) facility is located in Albion, between Rochester and Buffalo.

An offering listed on RI Marketplace by Marcus & Millichap states that the two-story facility offers a “whopping” 1MW of capacity and is air-cooled. The building is currently listed as vacant.

Bidding will be open for two days between June 9 and 11. The starting bid will be $1.

A separate website about the same listing states that the price is $275,000. Notably, the sale price was $999,000 in 2018, according to a previous brochure.

Sat on 4.2-acres, the two-story building was previously a back office and call center. Built in 1975, it seems to have been occupied by Claims Recovery Financial Services since its renovation in 2013. It is unclear whether the property was successfully sold in 2018 and 2022, and exactly when Claims Recovery exited the site.

Most data centers in New York state are located in New York City. According to Data Center Map, there are five data centers clustered around Rochester - none are located in Albion.
