Norwegian operator adds three data halls.
Bulk Infrastructure has added three data halls to its Oslo Internet Exchange (OS-IX) facility in Norway.
Bulk says that the expansion, first announced in May 2024, will double the facility’s current capacity to 14MW.
Each hall will provide different rack densities. The lowest will offer 3-4kWh per rack, followed by 10-15kWh per rack and 40-50kWh per rack.
The facility, opened in 2014, was formerly an old printing press. Bulk first took full ownership of OS-IX in January 2022, purchasing the remaining 50 percent share from Akershus Energi, a Norwegian hydroelectric power firm.
Rob Elder, Bulk’s chief commercial officer, said that the expansion was motivated by demand from businesses and public organizations that wanted a centrally located data center.
“The combination of cost control, increased data processing and a growing need for sovereignty means that more customers are moving to a hybrid cloud strategy while ensuring their critical data stays close to home.”
Bulk is a Norwegian data center operator. Its other Norwegian facility, the N01 data center campus located near Kristiansand, was recently selected by CoreWeave to host an Nvidia GB200 NVL72 cluster deployment.
Bulk operates another facility, DK01, in Esbjerg, Denmark.
