RackBank Datacenters Pvt. Ltd., a provider of carbon-neutral datacenter infrastructure, cloud computing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) services, has launched an AI data center park in Nava Raipur, in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The project will come up on 13.5 acres of land, and its construction will be completed in 4 phases with initial capacity of 80MW in Phase 1, which will be scalable to 160MW in Phase 4.
In a statement, the company said that the facility is being built at an initial investment of Rs 1,000 crores, that is scalable to Rs 3,000 crores over the next five years. “The state-of-the-art facility capable of housing 1,00,000 GPUs and 80MW power, is designed to meet the growing demand for advanced Al workloads,” it said. RackBank further revealed that the data center park will use both direct-to-chip as well as immersion cooling technologies. It will also feature flexible rack density options ranging from 80kW – 200kW per rack.
“The new facility will provide greater cost efficiencies to businesses by scaling and leveraging India’s GPU compute capacity to meet India’s AI needs. The campus will serve as a hub for collaboration between academia, industry, and government, fostering an ecosystem of innovation and technological advancement by helping business harness the true power of AI,” said Narendra Sen, Founder & CEO, RackBank. “It will empower businesses, researchers, developers, Global R&D centers and innovators to harness the full potential of AI while ensuring the highest standards of security, sustainability, and efficiency.”
Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai laid the foundation stone for the facility. In a press release the state government also revealed, “The Data Center Park will include a 2.7-hectare area developed as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ),” and that, “The project is expected to generate around 500 direct and 1,500 indirect employment opportunities, with priority given to local youth.”
“This is not just a data center; it’s the digital backbone for a new era of growth and empowerment,” said CM Vishnu Deo Sai. Chhattisgarh is particularly excited about AI technology and hopes that it will help farmers with smart farming, accurate weather forecasting, and crop management, leading to better yields and improved incomes.
