Google through its affiliate, Pearl Computing Malaysia Sdn Bhd had on May 2nd signed a contract to purchase 389 acres of land in Port Dickson from Gamuda DC Infrastructure Sdn Bhd for RM455.23 million (US108 million). The latter is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gamuda Berhad, a leading engineering and construction company in Malaysia.
The deal also includes enabling works, such as earthworks, and external infrastructure such as a new water treatment plant with a daily capacity of 65 million litres and off-river storage facilities, valued at about RM1 billion, according to Gamuda’s filing with Bursa Malaysia today. The sale is expected to be finalised by end 2025.
Gamuda had in January announced the purchase of the same plot of freehold land (at the time still under agriculture use) for RM424.4 million, from West Synergy Sdn Bhd.
“The above encapsulates the company’s one-stop solution for the fast-growing data center sector, whereby the company delivers top-to-toe land development including civil works, utility connections, and water infrastructure to deliver a ready to-build platform for hyperscale clients. This one-stop model leverages on the company’s core engineering expertise and next-gen Industrial Building System, which accelerates structural delivery with offsite precision manufacturing. This end-to-end approach de-risks early-stage development, shortens timelines, guarantees quality and cost, which sets the company apart as a strategic infrastructure partner in the digital economy,” the company said in a statement.
This is the second dealing between Google and Gamuda, the first being mechanical, electrical and plumbing fitout work for a hyperscale data centre in Elmina Business Park 1A in May 2024.
