Company files to add two more buildings to Mason Road site.
QTS is set to expand its new data center campus in Dallas, Texas.
First reported by the Dallas Morning News, QTS this month filed two applications with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), known as QTS DFW2 DC2 and QTS DFW2 DC3.Both projects, located at 303 Mason Road in Wilmer, Dallas County, would see the development of a two-story data center spanning 470,000 sq ft (43,664 sqm) - DC2, and 560,000 sq ft (52,025 sqm) - DC3.
Construction on the $300 million DC2 would begin in May 2025 for a June 2026 completion date. Work on the $350 million DC3 would start in November 2025 and finish around January 2027.
Highland Associates is named as the design firm for both projects.
“We are in the initial stages of planning,” QTS spokesperson Karen Cohen told the DMN. “We look forward to expanding our footprint to meet growing demand from our customers in the market. We will share updates as the projects progress.”
Blackstone-owned QTS filed to develop the first building at the Mason Road site bordering Lancaster in September 2024. Work on the two-story, 413,725 sq ft (38,436 sqm) building, known as DC1, was set to start in November 2024 for a December 2025 completion date.
QTS has one existing campus in the Irving area of Dallas. The 55-acre site, at 6431 Longhorn Drive, offers 147MW of capacity. DC1&2 span 700,000 sq ft (65,032 sqm) and offer 75.2MW of critical power, with DC3 spanning 415,900 sq ft (38,638 sqm) and offering 43MW.
After first filing to build DC5 back in 2022, the company re-filed to build DC5 at 6300 Longhorn Drive in 2023. The $180 million project, set to start in April 2024 and run until September 2025, will see a 264,000 sq ft (24,525 sqm) data center constructed.
As well as Irving, QTS has Texas campuses in Fort Worth and San Antonio.
