By: IDNOVARegion: East Asia

AI-driven demand for computing capacity is rising. GLP China is increasing its investment in new AI computing infrastructure and expanding its private-fund investment strategy into the computing-infrastructure sector.

GLP China IDC Income Fund I will invest in large-scale data-center projects developed and operated by GLP with stable performance. The fund focuses on computing infrastructure with stable operations and strong expansion potential. Strong investor interest in new computing infrastructure is expected to support further cooperation and accelerate the growth of GLP’s data-center business.

On March 31, GLP announced the completion of fundraising for GLP China IDC Income Fund I, with an investment scale of approximately RMB 2.6 billion. This is GLP’s first data-center-focused investment strategy. The fund focuses on stable, expandable computing infrastructure assets. Its investors include leading investment-management companies in China and well-known international institutional investors. GLP acts as the fund manager and asset manager.

The fund is expected to invest in a GLP data-center campus located in the largest data-center cluster in the Greater Beijing region. The project is a technologically advanced Tier III+ data center serving a leading internet platform company. While providing high-performance computing services, the facility uses intelligent and low-carbon operations to improve energy efficiency and create greater value for customers.

Teresa Zhuge, Executive Vice Chairman of GLP China and Chairwoman of the Executive Committee, said:

“Data centers are the infrastructure supporting the rapid development of AI computing. GLP’s launch of its first data-center income fund provides an investment product that combines stable returns with long-term growth, responding to investor demand. The new fund strategy will continue to raise capital, strengthen capital recycling and steadily expand the scale of data-center asset management.

“GLP has a leading position in computing infrastructure. In particular, our digital and intelligent operating capabilities significantly improve delivery and operational efficiency and are highly recognized by customers. Drawing on our expertise in serving investors and our strong operating capabilities developed through deep industry experience, we will continue to create greater value for customers, investors and the development of the digital economy.”

As the digital economy develops and large AI models continue to emerge, data centers and intelligent computing centers are becoming the physical foundation and essential infrastructure of the digital economy. The emergence of open-source AI models such as DeepSeek is creating more AI application scenarios across vertical industries and opening a period of rapid growth in the deployment of private enterprise AI. As a result, demand for data centers is showing strong upward momentum.

According to an industry report, China’s data-center market is expected to grow by USD 274 billion between 2025 and 2029, with a compound annual growth rate of more than 38%.[1]

Since entering the data-center sector in 2018, GLP has quickly become one of China’s leading independent data-center operators. The company has established a national presence with 20 data centers across four core regions: Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, the Greater Bay Area, and central and western China. Its platform is expected to provide 1,400MW of IT load and offers leading one-stop customized data-center solutions for hyperscale and enterprise customers.

From planning and design to development, construction and operations management, GLP considers efficiency improvement and carbon reduction across the full lifecycle of its data centers, including cooling, power distribution and energy use. The company applies prefabricated product technologies as well as digital and intelligent tools to develop green and energy-efficient data centers.

GLP began launching its China income-fund and China income-plus-value fund series in 2017. The investment categories cover logistics parks, technology and innovation research parks, advanced manufacturing facilities and other asset classes. The launch of the data-center income fund further expands GLP’s fund-product range, responding to strong investor demand for new infrastructure capable of generating stable and recurring cash flow. Through high-quality asset management and operations, GLP aims to create greater value for investors.
