Schneider Electric Launches 2.5MW Prefabricated Power Modules for AI Data Centers

Schneider Electric has unveiled a new line of 2.5MW prefabricated power modules targeting hyperscale, neocloud, and colocation data center operators, as the industry races to keep pace with the surging power demands of AI workloads. The launch represents the company's largest-capacity prefabricated power offering to date and underscores a broader shift toward standardized, factory-built infrastructure that can be deployed in months rather than years.

The power and cooling technology vendor said its new standardized power modules and power skids are "scalable, high-density power solutions designed for hyperscale, neocloud and colocation data center environments." The modules are powered by Schneider Electric's Galaxy VXL UPS technology and are built on the company's latest reference designs developed in collaboration with Nvidia, incorporating integrated power management and liquid cooling controls for Nvidia's GB300 NVL72 rack-scale AI platform.

The product line is available in 2MW, 2.25MW, and 2.5MW configurations, with the 2.5MW version representing the highest capacity Schneider Electric has ever manufactured. Each module integrates Galaxy VXL UPS, switchgear, cooling systems, lithium-ion battery technology, busway, and power distribution systems within a factory-tested enclosure. The accompanying power skids provide the same core electrical infrastructure in an open, skid-based format designed for indoor deployment within grey space environments.

By adopting a standardized approach to prefabricated power infrastructure, Schneider Electric says it can simplify the design and construction of power systems and deliver prefabricated units in as little as six months. Engineering, manufacturing, and testing take place at the company's factory in Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona, which was recently expanded to meet growing global demand for modular data center infrastructure and now offers 5,000 square meters (53,819 square feet) of dedicated production space.

"Today's data center operators are under immense pressure to deploy AI-ready infrastructure faster, more efficiently and at greater scale," said Tarunjeet Sarao, SVP for data center systems at Schneider Electric. "By standardizing our prefabricated power systems, and incorporating our leading Galaxy VXL UPS technology, we are enabling hyperscale, neocloud and colocation providers to deploy scalable, high-density power infrastructure in months rather than years. This represents a major step forward in helping customers build the next generation of AI factories, AI hubs and large-scale digital infrastructure."

The new power solutions are available immediately in Europe, with Schneider Electric stating they will become available in North America later this year, followed by additional international markets and the Asia-Pacific region. The launch reflects a growing industry trend in which power infrastructure — rather than compute hardware alone — has become a critical bottleneck for AI data center deployment, prompting vendors to compress timelines through prefabrication and standardization.
