The initiative is designed to directly supply renewable electricity to the company’s data center facilities, marking a significant step in its transition toward sustainable energy sourcing.
The announcement comes as the data center industry faces mounting pressure to reduce its carbon footprint amid surging energy demand driven by artificial intelligence and cloud computing. By integrating a dedicated solar array into its power infrastructure, PowerBank aims to lower operational electricity costs while ensuring a more predictable and environmentally friendly energy supply for its critical workloads.
The 3.2 MW installation, while modest in scale compared to utility-sized solar farms, is strategically focused on behind-the-meter consumption. This approach allows the company to bypass grid transmission losses and reduce reliance on fossil-fuel-based grid power during peak sunlight hours. The project is expected to offset a meaningful portion of the facility’s daytime energy consumption, contributing to broader corporate sustainability targets.
