Penguin Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: PENG), the AI Factory Platform Company that designs, builds, and manages next-generation AI data center infrastructure worldwide, has been selected by Lektra to deploy and optimize its AI micro data centers, the company announced Tuesday. Under the agreement, Penguin Solutions will supply validated reference designs, AI-optimized compute, and expert-led services and support to deliver and scale Lektra's distributed EdgeScale AI data centers.
The collaboration addresses a growing challenge in the AI infrastructure market: as demand for AI factory data centers accelerates, power availability and permitting constraints are increasingly limiting where large-scale facilities can be built. Lektra, a cloud company behind one of the world's first patented AI data centers powered by distributed energy, operates at capacities of 20 MW or less. With eight sites already deployed and more planned, all powered by carbon-free energy, Lektra's EdgeScale architecture allows AI infrastructure to be placed at strategically located sites, reducing deployment timelines from years to months while preserving flexibility to expand at the point of demand. By matching AI capacity requirements with available energy resources, Lektra offers an alternative to power-constrained and government-restricted large-scale data centers.
Through its Full-Stack AI Factory Platform, Penguin Solutions provides NVIDIA-based hardware as well as the engineering expertise to design and integrate accelerated servers into Lektra's architecture. As an NVIDIA AI Factory Specialized Partner, Penguin Solutions also deploys infrastructure to remote sites and provides ongoing services to simplify implementation and ensure reliable operation of Lektra-based data centers. The foundation is designed to help cloud service providers, neoclouds, energy providers, commercial solar operators, and other site hosts add GPU capacity incrementally and efficiently as demand grows.
