Google Confirms 506-Acre Project Clydesdale Data Center Campus in Owasso, Oklahoma

Google has publicly confirmed that it is the company behind the "Project Clydesdale" data center campus under development near Tulsa, Oklahoma. The project, developed by Beale Infrastructure, spans 506 acres and will be located near the Cherokee Industrial Park in Owasso, approximately 15 miles northeast of Tulsa.

The announcement marks a significant expansion of Google's cloud and AI infrastructure footprint in the state, where the company has maintained a presence since 2011. The campus was approved by the Tulsa County Board of Commissioners in September 2025, with construction commencing shortly thereafter. The site is bounded by East 76th Street North to the south, North Yale Avenue to the west, East 86th Street North to the north, and North Sheridan Road to the east.

According to the development plan submitted in 2025, the campus will consist of at least one initial phase with up to three additional phases planned. Each phase is expected to cover approximately 200,000 square feet (18,580 square meters) and will be funded by a private investment of at least $700 million, a figure that was later increased to $1 billion per phase.

"The Tulsa Regional Chamber is thrilled that Google is deepening its footprint in northeastern Oklahoma," said Mike Neal, president and CEO of the Tulsa Regional Chamber. "Google is synonymous with quality and commitment to community. We look forward to furthering a relationship that began nearly 20 years ago when Google announced it was coming to Mid-America Industrial Park in Pryor."

The confirmation comes as part of Google's broader $9 billion commitment announced in August 2025 to expand cloud and AI infrastructure across Oklahoma. The company launched its first campus in the state in 2011 in Pryor and is also developing additional campuses in Stillwater and Sand Springs. To date, Google has invested $15 billion across Oklahoma, with the Pryor campus having undergone regular expansions over the years.

Trystine Payfer, Google's public affairs manager for Oklahoma, emphasized the project's long-term significance. "This project is far more than an infrastructure investment; it is a long-term commitment to Tulsa County's future," Payfer said. "Building data centers the right way means being a good neighbor first. Here in Tulsa County, that means strengthening the local energy grid and creating real, lasting opportunities for local businesses, families, and schools."

As part of Project Clydesdale, Google will also fund and install 1.5 miles of new water lines and infrastructure upgrades for the Washington County Rural Water District. The company has committed to covering its power and water needs as well as associated infrastructure upgrades, a move that underscores the growing importance of utility coordination in large-scale data center development.

The project sits on land within the Cherokee Nation's jurisdictional area, though the tribe does not have direct regulatory control over the site. Earlier this month, the Cherokee Nation announced it was blocking data center development on its own land in the U.S., a separate matter that does not affect Project Clydesdale's progression. Meanwhile, Meta is also pursuing data center development in Tulsa, having broken ground on its own project in April of this year, signaling the region's emergence as a key hub for hyperscale cloud infrastructure.

The scale of Project Clydesdale and its phased investment structure reflect the broader industry trend toward massive, multi-phase data center campuses driven by surging demand for cloud services and AI workloads. As hyperscale operators continue to secure land, power, and water resources across the U.S., projects like this highlight the increasing complexity of site selection and the critical role of local partnerships in enabling rapid infrastructure deployment.
