Firebird.ai launches 300MW Nvidia-powered AI data center in Armenia

AI cloud startup Firebird.ai has officially launched its Armenian AI data center, marking the largest facility of its kind in the Caucasus region. The company said the facility is expected to reach 300MW of total capacity by the end of 2027, a significant upgrade from the 100MW previously announced for the site in Hrazdan, located 45 kilometers northeast of the Armenian capital Yerevan.

Built on the Nvidia DSX platform, the data center will be powered by more than 70,000 Nvidia Rubin and Blackwell GPUs. The expansion underscores Armenia's emergence as a frontier market for AI infrastructure, with Firebird positioning the site as a strategic hub for high-performance computing in the region.

The project is backed by a $500 million public-private partnership with the Armenian government, with Nvidia and Dell Technologies also collaborating on the facility. Firebird stated that Nvidia "intends to invest in the company," while fellow AI cloud provider CoreWeave invested in Firebird earlier this year. Schneider Electric has supplied the power infrastructure, and Vertiv has provided the cooling technology.

The data center was first announced in June 2025, when Firebird emerged from stealth with investment from the Afeyan Foundation for Armenia in addition to government support. In February 2026, following a meeting with US Vice President JD Vance, the company secured a US export license for 41,000 Nvidia GB300 GPUs, marking the second phase of its AI supercomputing 'megaproject' and bringing its total GPU procurement to 50,000. The following month, Armenian bank Ameriabank committed $60 million in financing for the data center.

"Our ambition for what we are building in the next two years or so is roughly 2GW of capacity around the world. We're very focused on merging into frontier markets," said Alexander Yesayan, co-founder of Firebird. The company's aggressive expansion strategy reflects a broader industry trend of AI infrastructure providers seeking new geographies with favorable conditions, while Armenia's relatively small existing data center market—currently served by operators such as Ovio, Datacom, and Arminco in Yerevan—stands to benefit from this large-scale investment.

The launch positions Firebird.ai as a key player in the AI cloud space, leveraging Nvidia's latest GPU technology to deliver compute capacity in an underserved region. With the facility's capacity tripling from its original plan and continued backing from major technology partners, the project signals growing momentum for AI infrastructure development in the Caucasus and beyond.
