Echelon Data Centres, an Ireland-based hyperscale data centre developer, has announced a strategic partnership with Trinovium, a subsidiary of Trinity Biotech, to co-develop advanced liquid cooling solutions tailored for artificial intelligence infrastructure. The collaboration is set to address the growing thermal demands of high-density AI workloads, which are increasingly straining traditional air-cooling methods in modern data centres.
The partnership leverages Echelon's extensive experience in designing and operating hyperscale data centre facilities, combined with Trinovium's expertise in high-purity fluid manufacturing and analytical technology. Together, the companies aim to create next-generation liquid cooling systems that will be integrated into Echelon's upcoming AI-focused infrastructure projects. Echelon currently has more than 700MW of capacity in development, positioning the partnership to have a significant impact on the European data centre landscape.
Liquid cooling has emerged as a critical technology for AI data centres, as advanced chips such as GPUs generate substantially more heat than conventional processors, making air cooling inefficient and costly at scale.
