Bitdeer Expands Soluna Bitcoin Mining Agreement at Texas Project Kati 1 to 35MW

By: IDCNOVARegion: North America
Cryptocurrency mining and AI cloud firm Bitdeer has agreed to expand its Bitcoin mining deployment at Soluna's Project Kati 1 in Texas from 28MW to 35MW, deepening a co-mining partnership that underscores the growing intersection of digital asset mining and large-scale energy infrastructure in the United States.

Under the amended agreement, Dory Creek LLC, a wholly owned Bitdeer subsidiary, will deploy approximately 7MW of additional mining equipment at the site. Soluna expects the expanded deployment to deliver approximately 2.42 exahashes per second of hash rate, with completion targeted for November 2026. The agreement operates under a co-mining structure in which Soluna supplies the site, electricity, and operations, while Bitdeer provides and retains ownership of its Sealminer A2 Pro Air mining machines. The two companies share the mining proceeds generated by the deployment.

"We entered our first co-mining agreement with Bitdeer in August, and we are expanding it before that deployment is even finished," said John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna, highlighting the accelerating pace of demand for behind-the-meter mining capacity.

The original agreement, announced on August 25, covered approximately 28MW of equipment with an expected hash rate of 1.93 EHps, with deployment scheduled to begin in September and ramp up in batches. Soluna subsequently announced on September 8 that it had energized Kati 1's final 14MW, completing the 83MW facility and bringing the company's total operating capacity to approximately 206MW. Kati 1A, the site's 48MW section serving Galaxy Digital, was completed on April 1.

The Kati campus receives power from the 273MW Las Majadas wind farm, co-owned by EDF Renewables and Masdar, under a power purchase agreement that provides for electricity to be supplied directly to the campus behind the meter. Soluna is also developing AI and high-performance computing capacity at Project Kati 2 with Metrobloks, with a definitive joint venture agreement signed on June 3.

The expansion reflects a broader trend of Bitcoin miners and energy developers forging increasingly integrated partnerships as demand for both compute capacity and renewable-powered infrastructure continues to rise. By scaling its deployment at Kati 1 ahead of the original schedule, Bitdeer is positioning itself to capture greater hash rate while leveraging Soluna's energy management expertise, a model that could serve as a template for future co-mining arrangements across Texas and beyond.
