Bitdeer Acquires 200 Acres in Milam County, Texas for AI/HPC Data Center Expansion

Bitdeer Technologies Group has acquired approximately 200 acres of greenfield land in Milam County, Texas, in a transaction advised by Texas-based law firm Jackson Walker. The newly acquired parcel is adjacent to Bitdeer's existing Rockdale facility, consolidating the blockchain and high-performance computing company's footprint in a region increasingly positioned as a strategic corridor for advanced computing infrastructure.

The acquisition carries significant weight for Bitdeer's ambitions in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. As demand for AI training and inference capacity continues to outpace available supply across the United States, securing long-term site control with access to power and water has become a critical differentiator for data center developers. The Milam County site, located within 70 miles of Austin, benefits from proximity to established transmission lines and substation infrastructure — key prerequisites for the power-intensive operations that AI and HPC workloads require.

Bitdeer plans to leverage the newly acquired land to support the development of AI and HPC data center infrastructure alongside its existing operations in the county. With the acquisition complete, the company now owns and/or operates approximately 255 acres in Milam County. Its sites there currently feature approximately 563 megawatts of interconnected grid capacity, with existing plans expected to scale to 742 megawatts, supported by access to a dedicated water supply — a critical resource for cooling high-density computing equipment.

The transaction was led by Jackson Walker partner Scott B. Smith, with support from Leonard H. Dougal, Jenny Roan Forgey, Meghan E. Griffiths, and Amanda L. Van Deusen. The firm, founded in 1887 and now boasting more than 500 attorneys across six offices, is the largest Texas-based law firm in the state and has been recognized in the Chambers USA Guide for Real Estate in Texas.

The move underscores a broader trend of computing companies securing large land parcels with existing energy infrastructure to accelerate AI data center deployment. As power availability emerges as the primary constraint on AI infrastructure growth in the United States, Bitdeer's expanded footprint in Milam County positions the company to advance planning, financing, and development for its AI/HPC buildout at a site already equipped with substantial grid interconnection.
