VCI Global launches Galatron AI Factory to target 500MW of modular AI compute capacity

AI-native operating company VCI Global Limited has unveiled Galatron AI Factory, a prefabricated modular data center platform engineered for high-density AI computing and token generation. The launch marks a strategic push by the Kuala Lumpur-based firm into the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market, where demand for scalable, rapidly deployable compute capacity continues to outpace traditional data center construction timelines.

Under its five-year roadmap, VCI Global said it is targeting up to 500MW of aggregate AI compute capacity, delivered through standardized 5MW prefabricated modules. Each liquid-cooled unit is designed for high-density AI workloads and carries a target manufacturing and deployment window of approximately six months, subject to power availability, site readiness, and regulatory approvals. The initial 5MW deployment is built around Nvidia's B300 infrastructure and is scheduled to go live in the third quarter of 2027, although the company did not disclose the location of this first site.

Each 5MW module is expected to support more than 5 trillion AI tokens annually. At the planned 500MW of capacity, VCI Global aims for the Galatron infrastructure to enable up to roughly 670 trillion AI tokens per year, a scale that would position the platform as a significant contributor to the region's AI compute ecosystem.

Victor Hoo, executive chairman and CEO of VCI Global, said the launch represents a foundational step in commercializing high-density AI compute. "Our initial 5MW deployment provides a foundation for commercializing high-density AI compute, while our 500MW roadmap gives us the flexibility to scale alongside demand and adopt increasingly advanced AI hardware. We see this as an important step in establishing VCI Global's presence in the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market," Hoo said.

The Galatron platform is designed to incorporate alternative power options, including solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) solutions, alongside renewable energy sources, advanced cooling technologies, and integrated flexible grid interaction. VCI Global also indicated that Galatron may be integrated with its broader AI infrastructure initiatives, notably its planned AI cloud and computing infrastructure in Malaysia, which includes a 250MW solar energy project intended to power AI data centers across the country.

Founded in 2013, VCI Global is a Malaysian consulting and services company headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, with additional offices in Singapore and Hong Kong. The company focuses on AI infrastructure, energy, and digital assets. The launch of Galatron AI Factory underscores a broader industry shift toward modular, liquid-cooled data center designs that can be deployed faster than conventional builds, as operators race to meet surging demand for AI compute capacity.
