Princeton Digital Group Signs Definitive Agreement to Sell Indonesia Enterprise Data Center Business to SM+

By: IDCNOVARegion: Southeast Asia
Princeton Digital Group (PDG), a leading Asia Pacific data center operator, has signed a definitive agreement to sell its enterprise data center business in Indonesia to PT SMPlus Digital Investama (SM+), a digital infrastructure and services investment platform backed by Sinar Mas, one of Indonesia's largest conglomerates. The transaction marks a strategic pivot for PDG as it sharpens its focus on hyperscale development in one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing digital economies.

The deal encompasses five operational data center facilities located across Greater Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Pekanbaru. PDG originally acquired these facilities when it entered the Indonesian market in 2019 and has since invested in and enhanced the portfolio. The sale represents a natural evolution of PDG's market strategy, which has centered on establishing an operating presence through acquisition before scaling into hyperscale development.

Rangu Salgame, Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder of PDG, framed the transaction as consistent with the company's long-standing approach: "From the outset of PDG's founding, our strategy has been to enter a market, establish a strong operating presence, then expand for scale. In Indonesia, we entered the market through the acquisition of an established data center portfolio, while investing to expand our capabilities and build a hyperscale business." He added that PDG has since developed a 400 MW hyperscale portfolio in the country, comprising its JC2, JC3, and JC4 campuses, and plans to continue investing in its expansion. "This transaction is a natural step to continue serving our hyperscale customers' growing requirements in Indonesia and across APAC," Salgame said.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions. PDG's total portfolio exceeds 1.8 GW across eight countries in Asia Pacific, underscoring its position as one of the region's most significant data center platforms. The divestiture of the enterprise business allows PDG to concentrate capital and operational resources on its hyperscale campuses in Indonesia, where demand from cloud and AI-driven workloads continues to accelerate. For SM+, the acquisition provides an established enterprise data center footprint across multiple Indonesian cities, strengthening Sinar Mas's position in the country's digital infrastructure sector.
