Orange Polska Extends Wind PPA with EDF Until 2035 to Secure 200GWh of Annual Renewable Power

Orange Polska has extended its wind Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with EDF Power Solutions Polska through 2035, reinforcing the telecom operator's long-term commitment to renewable energy sourcing. The renewed contract, which adds five years to the previous agreement, is expected to deliver approximately 200GWh of power annually to Orange's Polish operations, covering around 40 percent of the company's total electricity demand in the country.

The extended PPA builds on an existing partnership between the two companies and underscores the growing role of corporate renewables procurement in Europe's telecommunications sector. EDF Renewables operates five onshore wind farms in Poland, including the 48MW Linowo and 58MW Rzepin sites, which will continue to supply power under the agreement. For Orange Polska, the deal provides both environmental and financial benefits, offering greater price predictability while supporting the company's decarbonization roadmap.

Liudmila Climoc, CEO of Orange Polska, highlighted the strategic value of the agreement, stating that responsibility and business development go hand in hand. "Electricity from renewable sources translates into reduced CO2 emissions from our operations. We have been consistently working towards this goal for years, and now all of our electricity consumption comes from renewable sources. At the same time, a long-term energy supply contract provides greater predictability and reduced energy costs. This significantly supports our transformation and business efficiency," she said.

Alicja Chilińska-Zawadzka, president of EDF Power Solutions Polska, echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the company's long-standing presence in the Polish market. "We, as EDF Power Solutions Polska, are pleased to be able to supply Orange Polska with energy under a long-term PPA. For 14 years, we have been expanding our operations in Poland, investing in new generation capacity, increasing the availability of energy from renewable sources, and developing energy storage technologies," she added.

The extended PPA is a key component of Orange Polska's broader sustainability strategy. The company reports that since 2020, it has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 93 percent. In 2025, Orange Polska said it powered its installations on 100 percent renewable energy for the first time, marking a significant milestone in its clean energy transition.

Beyond this latest agreement, Orange Polska has been actively expanding its renewable energy portfolio across Europe. In 2023, the company signed a PPA with R.Power for more than 600GWh over ten years, and in 2022 it entered a 36MW wind PPA with Enertrag. Outside Poland, Orange has also secured PPAs in France and Romania over the past two years, reflecting a group-wide push toward sustainable energy procurement.

The extension of the wind PPA with EDF comes at a time when European telecom operators are increasingly turning to long-term renewable contracts to manage energy costs and meet ambitious climate targets. With energy prices remaining volatile across the region, PPAs offer a hedge against market fluctuations while enabling companies to demonstrate tangible progress on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments. For EDF, the deal further cements its position as a leading corporate PPA provider in Poland, with a growing portfolio of wind and storage assets supporting industrial and telecommunications clients.
