Nebius Secures $3.5 Billion Citi Credit Facility to Fund Data Center Expansion

By: IDCNOVARegion: Europe
The financing underscores the intensifying race among AI cloud providers to lock in capital for large-scale infrastructure buildouts as demand for compute capacity continues to surge.

Nebius Group has obtained a $3.5 billion credit facility arranged by Citigroup, a move the AI cloud provider is directing toward the expansion of its data center footprint. The facility provides the company with substantial liquidity as it works to scale up infrastructure capable of supporting demanding artificial intelligence workloads.

The deal reflects the growing willingness of major financial institutions to underwrite the capital-intensive buildout of AI-focused data centers, where providers must secure land, power and specialized hardware well ahead of revenue generation. For Nebius, the Citi-backed facility offers a flexible funding source that can be drawn upon as its expansion plans progress.

The announcement comes as AI cloud providers compete aggressively for capacity, with financing terms and access to capital increasingly shaping which operators can move quickly enough to meet customer demand. Nebius has positioned itself as a challenger in the European AI infrastructure market, and the new credit line gives it added financial runway to pursue that strategy.
