Hyerin, a South Korean specialist in industrial engines and power generation equipment, has secured a KRW 46.4 billion contract to supply emergency generators for a new artificial intelligence data center in Pohang, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing on October 21. The deal, equivalent to 19.18% of the company's revenue last year, runs through November 9, 2027, and underscores the growing demand for reliable backup power infrastructure as AI-driven computing loads surge across the region.

Under the agreement, Hyerin will provide Caterpillar emergency generators to the Pohang AI data center being developed by NeoAI Cloud. The company said it was selected as the supplier after NeoAI Cloud conducted a direct evaluation of performance, supply stability and brand reliability, recognizing Hyerin's supply chain and technical support and service systems built as a Caterpillar dealer.

The contract highlights the expanding market for emergency power generation and construction as large-scale power demand from cloud data centers and semiconductor facilities continues to rise. "With growing large-scale power demand from cloud data centers and semiconductors, the market for emergency generator supply and deployment is also expanding," a Hyerin official said. "Based on large data center supply deals including the Pohang project, we expect the growth of our power generation and power infrastructure business to expand further next year."

The win positions Hyerin to benefit from a broader buildout of AI-ready data center capacity in South Korea, where operators are increasingly prioritizing resilient power systems to support high-density computing workloads. As AI infrastructure investment accelerates, demand for backup generation equipment is expected to remain robust, reinforcing the company's outlook for its power infrastructure segment.
