Singapore-based data center operator Empyrion Digital has closed financing for its TW1 Taipei Data Center with Taiwan's E.Sun Bank, marking a key milestone for the company's expansion in Taiwan's digital infrastructure market. The debt facility will support the development of the 7MW facility located in the Neihu District, a prominent technology business hub in Taipei.
The five-story TW1 facility will deliver approximately 4,260 sqm (45,855 sq ft) of colocation space and is scheduled to be ready for service by Q4 2027. Designed to accommodate AI workloads, high-performance computing (HPC), and enterprise and cloud customers, the building will incorporate integrated photovoltaic walls to generate solar electricity, reducing both energy and water consumption as part of its sustainability strategy.
Empyrion commenced construction on the project in January 2026, following the initial announcement of its Taiwan entry in November 2024. The financing closure represents a significant vote of confidence in Taiwan's growing role as a regional data center hub, which currently hosts 17 facilities in Taipei alone, according to Data Center Map.
"Closing this financing is another important step in our growth in Taiwan," said Empyrion CEO Teruo Iwamoto. "It reflects the strong fundamentals of TW1 and our financing partner's confidence in the project and Taiwan's broader digital infrastructure market. We thank E.Sun Bank, our advisers, and all our partners for their support throughout the financing process."
E.Sun Bank, headquartered in Taipei and founded in 1992, expressed its commitment to supporting the project. "As AI, cloud computing, and digital services continue to grow, resilient and high-quality digital infrastructure is becoming increasingly important to Taiwan's digital economy," the bank said, adding that it looks forward to building a strong partnership with Empyrion Digital as TW1 progresses. The bank previously served as lead arranger and bookrunner for AirTrunk's US$1.2bn loan financing its TOK1 East Tokyo hyperscale data center campus, the largest data center financing in Japan to date.
Empyrion Digital, established in 2021 as a portfolio company of Singaporean infrastructure investment fund Seraya Partners, operates and develops data centers across six Asian countries. Its current portfolio includes two operational facilities—a 29.4MW data center in Banham, South Korea, and a 7.7MW facility in Dodid, Singapore—alongside several projects under development, including a 200MW campus in Johor, Malaysia, which recently topped out, a 12MW facility in Bangkok, Thailand, and a 25MW data center in Tokyo, Japan.
The financing underscores the broader trend of institutional capital flowing into Asia-Pacific digital infrastructure, driven by surging demand for AI-ready capacity. For Empyrion, securing debt support from a major Taiwanese lender strengthens its ability to deliver TW1 on schedule and reinforces its position in one of Asia's most strategically located data center markets.
