Digital Core REIT has secured overwhelming unitholder approval for a portfolio reshuffle that will introduce Singapore into its asset base and deepen its footprint in Japan, marking a significant strategic repositioning for the data centre real estate investment trust.
At an extraordinary general meeting held on October 22, 2026, unitholders cast 494,459,301 votes in favour of the proposed transaction, representing 99.92% of the 494,852,301 units voted. Only 393,000 units, or 0.08%, were voted against the resolution, underscoring near-unanimous support for the asset swap among the REIT's investor base.
The transaction reflects a broader trend among data centre REITs to optimise their portfolios geographically, rotating capital toward markets with strong hyperscale demand and favourable regulatory environments. By entering Singapore and expanding in Japan, Digital Core REIT is positioning itself to capture growth in two of Asia-Pacific's most dynamic data centre markets, where land constraints and power availability have made existing capacity increasingly valuable.
The approval clears a key hurdle for the REIT's repositioning strategy, which is expected to enhance portfolio diversification and align its asset mix with long-term demand drivers in the region. The strong unitholder mandate also signals confidence in management's approach to capital recycling at a time when data centre valuations remain elevated and competition for prime assets is intense.
