Interconnection platform operator DE-CIX has announced a new partnership with AdaniConneX to establish a point-of-presence (PoP) at the latter's Chennai 1 data center facility, according to a media statement released on Wednesday. The move is designed to deliver low-latency and high-performance connectivity to enterprises, cloud providers, and digital platforms across India.
The development comes as India's digital economy accelerates, with businesses increasingly relying on data localization, cloud adoption, and data-intensive applications. The new PoP will provide customers at Chennai 1 with direct access to DE-CIX India's internet exchange, cloud connectivity, and enterprise networking services, aiming to improve performance, reduce latency, and enhance user experience across digital services.
DE-CIX India currently operates internet exchanges in major Indian cities including Mumbai, Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. The Chennai deployment extends the company's national interconnection ecosystem, enabling customers to connect with more than 600 networks, spanning telecom operators, internet service providers, content platforms, and global cloud companies.
"India's digital economy is growing at an unprecedented pace. Building data centres is only part of the equation; they must also be seamlessly connected to the networks, cloud platforms and businesses that rely on them," said the CEO of AdaniConneX. The chief executive added that the partnership strengthens the digital ecosystem that enterprises, content providers, and cloud platforms depend on.
AdaniConneX is a joint venture between the Adani Group and EdgeConneX. "Our collaboration with AdaniConneX strengthens India's digital infrastructure. By extending our interconnection platform to Chennai 1, we are enabling enterprises, cloud providers, and networks to access a resilient and scalable ecosystem," said the chief business officer of DE-CIX.
In a joint statement, both companies also confirmed they will explore opportunities to expand interconnection capabilities across additional AdaniConneX campuses in the future, signaling a broader strategic alignment to support India's growing digital infrastructure demands.
